Marrowstone Lighthouse   •   Port Townsend, WA

Well, there's not a lot to say about this lighthouse. More of a beacon than a lighthouse, really, you have to be a hardcore lighthouse lover to seek this one out. As you can see from the picture below it's not exactly romantic, is it? Still, the beach here is a beautiful place for a picnic if you are lucky enough to catch it on a sunny day.

This station was first established in 1882; the current structure was built in 1912. The Keeper's Quarters predate the light and consist of a Victorian wood-frame home constructed in 1895. A seawall was built on the site in 1922. The light was automated in 1962.

From Seattle: Take I-5 North or WA-99 to WA-104 (Exit 177 from I-5). Head Northwest on WA-104 to Kingston-Edmonds Ferry. Take the ferry west across the sound to WA-104. Follow WA-104, crossing the Hood Canal bridge, to WA-19. Head north on WA-19 to WA-116. Head east on 116. You will cross a bridge leaving the Olympic Peninsula and onto Indian Island, and then a second bridge from Indian Island to Marrowstone Island. WA-116 then bends and heads north. Follow it to Fort Flagler State park.
